COUNTDOWN

05-04-07 Hey ho - let's go!! Yes, yes my friends - those of you who know me well will be familiar with how passionate I am about my job! I've found that my passion has greater limits as I've been introduced to maternity leave. I am very happy in my new found profession of being pregnant at home.. Not bad- not as stressful and I'm finding that I'm a much happier and productive worker! Unfortunately is doesn't last forever, however I've taken the half pay option over 28wks which is not too shabby. The pay reduction has put me in a lower tax bracket and it seems I'm not that much different in my net pay.. Sweet..

I've been on maternity leave for about 2 weeks now and have adapted pretty well I think.. Gett ing plenty of jobs done around the place (basic chores and baby stuff), but also resting up too. I'm having nice naps in the afternoon when I need them and swimming in our pool!! Nice!!

Vince has just joined me on holidays for Easter. This is also a nice time for us to spend together before the baby comes along and turns our world as we know it upside down. So we are very fortunate and will be getting out and about this week! Should be good!! Anyway - will update you all more as time progresses.. 4 weeks til the expected date of birth...

Any punts at the sex and weight of the baby? Post them on our comments if you want! (I sound like some sort of TV show asking for your votes - shocking?!)....

17-03-07 One week of work to go!! I am happy!!

03-03-07 Hey ho every body!! Thought it may be about time to post a pic of me which actually shows me looking pregnant. I've popped out a lot more now, and so I should too as I am 31 weeks pregnant. I've got 3 more weeks of work and then 6 weeks off to the expected date of birth. The last 3 months of pregnancy is when the baby begins storing fat and gaining weight, so we should see quite a growth spurt before the birth. I have 3 more weeks of work before I go on maternity leave. I'm looking forward to this as I may have more energy. At the moment it's just work, eat and sleep (with a little exercise when I can muster the motivation). Feel pretty useless at times. If I haven't slept enough I'm VERY useless. Can't think or function very well. If we go to mates place it's usually a pretty early night for me. Maternity leave will also be the time of getting the baby's room ready and all the little things we'll need purchased. Hopefully it won't come early!! We were cleared of gestational diabetes the other week, apparently this condition is becoming more common these days. A healthy diet does help and exercise of course.. I was going to the gym up until about 3 weeks ago. My lower back (sacrum and sciatic area) was getting very aggravated so I gave it a rest and started swimming.. Worked a treat - feeling much better and stronger. I go pretty slow at the pool but still manage to pump out 20 laps 3x a week. The pool is great! Weightless and cool - just what you need in the tropics! It has been most comfortable in the last few days. Lots of rain - but we'll post another blog about that.. It's nice and cool in Darwin and that's fantastic!! I'll be having another scan in early April to check out my placenta. Apparently it was low in my last scan which can cause some complications at the birth.. However approx 95% of low placentas correct themselves so I'm not worrying about it at this stage. I think they opt for a caesarean if it's still low at birth. If it has to happen I'm not gonna argue. So everything seems to be going well! Vince is being a trooper! Hope you are all well and enjoy the pics of the penguin pregnant Jodi......
